cMoe Celebrates 1st Birthday!
Sep 29, 2007
SOUNDS OF A BIRTHDAY PARTY FILL DOWNTOWN
(Evansville, IN) — Amid the tapping hammers, drum beats and marching feet echoing through Downtown Evansville Saturday in celebration of the Koch Family Children’s Museum of Evansville’s first birthday was the ringing of applause for Ginger Ramsden, recipient of cMoe’s inaugural Karen D. Magan Inspiring Life Award.
Ramsden is manager of Family School and Children’s Programs at the University of Southern Indiana and has been involved in numerous community organizations.
“Ginger’s enthusiasm, support and dedication to education has indeed earned her the title of an inspiring pioneer in our community,” said December Warren, cMoe executive director.
Saturday’s party-goers were treated to many special events throughout the day, including drawings for one Family Membership and one birthday party at cMoe.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Home Depot led a construction project for visitors who want to try their hand at a project. At 1 p.m. the Boom Squad entertained party guests outside the museum with their infectious rhythms, and at 1:15 p.m. a Boom Squad drummer led visitors on a parade through the museum.
Warren, Board President Amy Kolleck and Evansville Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel gave an official welcome to birthday guests at 1:30 p.m., followed by presentation of the Magan award, a quick look at cMoe’s plans for the upcoming year, a happy birthday serenade by D’Alto Singers, birthday cake and a performance by the Hebron Hoppers.
“Judging from the success of our first year, cMoe has filled a niche in the Evansville area providing critical services and programming that has impacted children and their families from all over,” Warren said. “We look forward to taking our relationship with the communities we serve to an even deeper level in our second year, and are grateful for the support that will enable us to impact even more children and their families.”
Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 2, cMoe will leap in to Terrific Tuesdays, a program which gives visitors half off the price of admission after 3 p.m., paying just $3 on Tuesday afternoons.
Regular admission to cMoe is $6; members are free. For more information about cMoe, visit www.cmoekids.org.

cMoe Celebrates Six Months and 50,000 Visitors
Mar 28, 2007
(Evansville, Ind.) – Just a year ago, the cMoe walls were bare and the dynamic exhibits you see today still were in various stages of development.
Six months after opening its doors, the museum regularly rings with the sounds of delighted children and adults who come to Work Hard, Live Big, Speak Loud and play in the Quack Factory.
“Our intent was to create an innovative and educational experience for children in the Tri-State, and we’re delighted to find that our reach has gone far beyond this area,” said December Warren, executive director. “Since opening, we’ve welcomed visitors from 41 states and 12 countries to experience the joy of life-long learning and the tremendous impact and importance of childhood.”
Thursday, March 29th marks the sixth month anniversary of Opening Day, and Warren says the museum staff anticipates welcoming the 50,000th visitor to cMoe that same afternoon. In celebration, this lucky visitor will receive a complimentary week of summer camp at cMoe. Visitors will be treated to anniversary cake at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
Since opening, cMoe has hosted 129 birthday parties, welcomed 155 school or organization group field trips, and served as the site for 12 private functions.
Special activities and presentations from area performing arts groups fill the calendar. Day camps bring children to the museum for fun-filled learning experiences.
This summer, cMoe will host eight week-long day camps for children ages 4-12 with themes such as Mad Scientist Lab, World Traveler and On the Air.
More information about summer camps, a complete calendar of events or information about cMoe in general can be found online at www.cmoekids.org. For calendar or camp information, select newsletter to see the Spring 2006 issue.

Free Family Fun Night at cMoe
Nov 02, 2006
“Family Fun Night was created with the intent of opening the museum to working parents and their children who can’t otherwise attend during our regular hours of operation and to enable us to reach out to children and families who might not be able to afford admission,” said December Warren, cMoe executive director. “Thanks to the generosity of St. Mary’s Hospital and the commitment from their employees, these nights promise an entertaining and educational experience for everyone.”
Along with strolling performers throughout the evening, St. Mary’s employees and their families will entertain visitors in the Freedom Gallery at 6 and 7 p.m. on each Family Fun Night. St. Mary’s staff also will provide ongoing displays and presentations on a variety of topics.
Warren said the museum requires all children to be accompanied by an adult, and all adults to be accompanied by a child.
